It is our mission to run a reputable shop that is honest and provides quality service for an affordable price and to treat customers with the utmost respect. Integrity is our cornerstone.
Ken Decker was a teenager when he started working with his father in their home garage. His father, after serving the armed services became a mechanic and then studied to become a teacher. Stan Decker became a exemplary Auto Shop teacher and worked for the Manpower project and Schenectady Public Schools.
Ken went on to work on tanks in the Army and spent 4 years in Germany where he became even more specialized in foreign auto repair.
After returning to the states, Ken worked for several shops in the area and decided to go out on his own in 1988 and open A Lightning Bug Automotive.
His shop was the pride of his father, that he would follow in his foot steps and open his own business.
Stan Decker is no longer with us, but his memory lives on in his son's shop. Come have a look and you will still see remants of Stan's influence at A Lightning Bug Automotive.
We are not large but we are mighty. We still have that down home small town philosophy. WE have to meet our customers on the streets every day and so we make sure that the product that we put out is one that we can live with.
We encourage our customers to come, watch us work, have a cup of coffee, and know exactly that what we are doing to your car is in the car's best interest.
We will NEVER suggest something that is not needed. We WILL, however, recommend repairs that will save you lots of money in the long run.
Did you know that your timing belt or timing chain should be replaced aroung 50-60,000 miles. It will NOT give you warning when it breaks and that will cause $$$$ of damage to your motor.
We also will NOT do things that would make your car unsafe because your safety is our first concern.
So if you want to just get by without having your car repaired properly, then we are NOT the shop for you.
We guarantee to save you money over any shop in the area
